Housing Sector Low-Cost Units a Priority

Statistics indicate 700,000 housing units are being built nationwide every year, nearly 300,000 short of basic demand.

Last Iranian year (ended March 20) the housing crisis was a hot topic of discussion among people, officials and economic experts.
The issue was so intense that it forced the government and Majlis to cooperate to find a way out.
Supply of residential units to the society, in particular, low-income stratum is an issue that worries world governments, according to Persian daily Donyaye Eqtesad.
This is why the government has made tremendous efforts to control the situation in the market by offering or increasing low-interest loans.
Unfortunately, these efforts failed to decrease house prices and rents, especially in Tehran.
